Tavin Dennis of Yonkers was arrested Wednesday, following an intense investigation into all of the crimes that are believed to have taken place on Oct. 11, 2017, between midnight and 5 a.m., said Lt. David Dosin of the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department.
Police first became aware of the incident around 7 a.m. Oct. 11, after receiving a call from the owner of the Hastings Center Restaurant, at 540 Warburton Avenue reporting his business had been entered during the overnight hours. Patrols were detailed and confirmed a burglary had occurred. Entry was made into the business through a rear door by smashing a window, Dosin said.
The cash register in the restaurant was damaged and it is unknown how much money was missing.
A canvas of the area by officers on scene located an attempted burglary at Hastings Stationery Store, at 536 Warburton Ave. An attempt to enter the establishment was made by smashing the rear door window. The glass on the window was shattered but did not break.
Officers also discovered another attempted burglary was made at Sterling National Bank, located at 560 Warburton Ave. An attempt to enter the establishment was made by smashing one of the windows panes, Dosin said.
The suspect was unable to break a secondary window pane and no entry was made into the building.
Another commercial burglary was also discovered at Peter Gisolfi Associates, at 566 Warburton Ave. Entry was made through a rear window which had its glass broken. The establishment was ransacked and was missing various computer equipment.
It was also discovered that Protection Fire House, located at 573 Warburton Ave., was entered through a second story rear window which had its glass broken. A flat-screen TV was stolen.
The investigation was carried out by the Hastings-on-Hudson Detective Division in conjunction with the Yonkers Police Department and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. Tavin Dennis
Dennis was charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary. He is being held at the Westchester County Jail.
